Now you can easily integrate Google Map into thier websites!

When you add a new Maps page, just click ‘Add Location’ on the editing page. Enter the location details and a Google map will be created automatically and placed on your page beside the address. You can also click links to open the map in Google or even get directions from their location to yours!

To check it out, just sign in to your website, then click ‘ADD PAGE’ -> ‘Maps’.

Image Library Updates

Have you ever been in the middle of uploading your images when you realized that you hadn’t yet created a folder for them?

Now you can do it on the fly! With the most recent updates to the image library, you can create a new folder as you upload images.

Along with the folder changes, you can now also upload twice the number of photos at one time.

Doba is Better Than Ever!

With Doba drop shipping, you can sell more products without worrying about shipping, inventory, or returns. And customers get a FREE Doba account when they sign up through the website builder!

Once you set up Doba with your site, Doba products are managed right through the new inventory feature (‘Edit Store’ -> ‘Products’ -> ‘Inventory’) along with the
rest of your inventory.

New Search Box!

Want an easy way for customers to search your website?

Now you have it! We’ve just launched a new Google Site Search feature that allows you to easily add a search box to your pages.

Your visitors can then enter their search into the box, and any pages that are indexed by Google and match the search will be shown in the results, right on your website.

To get started, just go to ‘Edit Site’ -> ‘My Pages’ -> ‘Power Tools’ -> ‘Google Search’.

New Inventory Feature – Monday April 27

On Monday, April 27, starting at 10pm (PST), we’ll be putting on our hard hats and launching that new inventory feature we mentioned a few posts back!

To get this great new feature up and running, we’ll be going offline for about 5 hours. Any customers who visit your site during that time will be shown a system notice, including the estimated time your website will be back online.

Once the new inventory feature is launched, just click ‘Edit Store’ ->‘Products’ ->‘Inventory’ to take a look!

New Help & Support System

In mid February, you’ll see some significant changes to our Technical Support. To help you get the answers you need when you need them, we’re launching a new support system!

In the new system, you’ll be able to find the articles that really match what you’re looking for, thanks to a better search function. The articles are also sorted by category and you can rate each article to let us know whether it helped you.
We’ll also be able to gather more information when you submit a question. This will help us resolve your problem faster, by getting all the details right up front and reducing the amount of messages going back and forth.

New Toolbar in Early January!

Update: Message Board

To make managing your message board and members easier, we’ve made some adjustments to the Message Board feature.

On the Message Board editing page, you’ll now see that we’ve merged ‘Manage Members’, ‘Guest Settings’ and ‘Moderators’ into one area called ‘Manage Members’.

Once a topic is selected when viewing the message board, you can now enter your post directly at the bottom of the thread.

For logged in members, what used to be called ‘User Control Panel’ is now simply called ‘Account’. In their profile, they’re also now able to choose from social networking sites other than just ICQ.

Updates: Custom Feedback Form & Polls

Due to popular demand, we’ve made a few adjustments to the Custom Feedback Form and Polls Features. Here’s what you can now do:
Feedback Form

Change the layout by choosing whether to display field labels above or beside the field

Provide more flexible options by allowing for a blank entry in drop down fields

Modify your Thank You Page by opting whether to show your visitor their submitted answers

Polls

Prevent swaying votes by choosing to hide poll results until visitor has voted

Customize your graph by selecting the color of the bars

To make managing your multimedia files easier, we’ve made a few changes to the Multimedia page type. You can now display multiple media files on a multimedia page and showing a YouTube video is as easy as copying a URL!

You can also easily sort, edit, and delete the files displayed on your page or choose how you’d like your files to be aligned – right, left or center.

Looking for better quality stock photos to brighten up your website pages?

We’ve just renegotiated our image licensing agreement with Photos.com and have completely boosted the quality and number of stock photos in the image library!

Each crisp, colorful, professional image has been handpicked to make your pages look like you’ve hired your very own photographer.

NOTE: Any images you’ve previously chosen from the image library will still work, but cannot be added from the image library again once deleted from a page. If you delete an image that you may want to use again, make sure to copy and save the URL of the image. You can then use that URL when adding images using the Easy Editor.

Two Big Reasons You’ll Love This Change

Multiple-Site Management
With the current system, you can only log in and manage one website at a time. For customers that have more than one website, it can be difficult and confusing as you have different website IDs and passwords all over the place.

The new account system allows you to log in with one email address and password, then add existing sites and create new ones under that one account. To manage all your websites, you’ll only need to remember one password (we’re pretty sure remembering your email address will be easy)!

The new account system also allows for flexibility in billing options. You can apply the same billing settings for all your sites, or use different settings for each site.

Better Communication
To create an account, you’ll need to provide a valid email address. This will allow us to keep you updated and aware of things that affect you and your website, like upcoming maintenance or new features.

Three Main Differences You’ll See

Right off the bat, there are going to be a few things that look a little different. Overall, everything works almost the same as it used to. Here’s what you’ll notice:

Logging In
As mentioned, once you create your account, you’ll log in with your email address instead of your website ID.

Editing Your Site
Since you’ll now be able to manage multiple sites from the myHome page, you’ll need to select which site you want to edit before getting started. This can be done from your list of sites found in the top left corner of the myHome page. Once a site is selected, you’ll have access to all the editing tools you’re used to.

In your site list, you’ll also be able to see additional information about your sites, like trial status, billing errors, and more.

‘Your Account’ – Location & How It Works
We’re moving ‘Your Account’ from under the ‘Manage Site’ tab to under the ‘myHome’ tab. From this area you’ll be able to update your account and billing information, view your website invoices, and upgrade your website package.

Since you’ll be able to manage more than one site per account, you’ll also be able to apply different billing and package settings for each site. When you view your invoices, manage your billing, or make upgrades to your site package, you’ll just need to choose which website you want to handle.

Overall, these changes will make it easier to keep you updated about anything going on with your site AND make it a lot easier for you to manage more than one website.

New Feature: Recommend Products

If you’re like most store owners, you probably want to make more money per sale. Well, our newest feature will help you do it!

The Recommend Products feature allows you to suggest up to 3 other catalog items on a product page.

Whether you sell products that naturally go together (golf clubs and balls) or you offer products that aren’t often paired but maybe should be (kid art supplies and surface cleaner), the Recommend Products feature helps you remind customers of other items they might be interested in.

You can find the Recommend Products feature under ‘Edit Store’ -> ‘Products’ -> ‘Recommend Products’.

With this new feature, we’ve also added a new product image viewer that opens your product images full size in a pop-up window instead of placing them further down the page.

Product Export + Image URL

If you haven’t seen it already, we recently launched the Product Export feature. It allows you to create a TXT or CSV formatted list of your catalog items, including all the product details (i.e. Name, Description, Pricing, etc.).

Since many of you asked, we’ve now added the URL of the product’s image to the list of information exported by this feature.

To use the Export Products feature, go to ‘Edit Store’ -> ‘Products’ -> ‘Export Products’.

Shopping Cart: Now In Your Template!

In the past, the checkout process looked a little different from the rest of your website and your customers would no longer see your site design. Well, not anymore!

Now when your customers go to pay for their order, they won’t notice any difference between the rest of your site and the checkout process. All the forms for completing an order have now been embedded within your pages – so your branding is consistent all the way through.

The only time your customers will see a difference during the checkout process is if they are paying through PayPal Standard. They will still need to complete the transaction on the PayPal website.

New Tabs: Edit Store & Marketing

In our ongoing crusade to make it easier for you to access and use features (and for us to give you new ones!), on Monday, August 25, you’ll find two brand new tabs on the toolbar.

Instead of seeing:

You’ll see:

Anything that was previously under the ‘Manage Site’ tab has now been divided up between ‘Edit Store’ and ‘Marketing’.

So, anything that has to do with the management of your shopping cart or online store is now under‘Edit Store’.

Under the ‘Edit Store’ tab, you’ll find the following subsections:

Shopping Cart – The first page you hit after clicking the ‘Edit Store’ tab and where you’ll set up your cart, including taxes, shipping, etc.
Products – From here you can view and manage your catalogs and products.
Marketplace – Here you’ll find product-listing tools for eBay, Shopping.com and Shopzilla.
Orders – View and manage your customer orders.

Under the ‘Marketing’ tab, you’ll find features that help you spread the word about your site, like search engine submission.

You’ll also find two minor name changes:

The Shopping Cart “Thank You” Page is now the ‘Order Confirmation Page’ and is found under ‘Edit Store’ -> ‘Shopping Cart’.
The Mass Manage Products feature is now ‘Bulk Edit’ and is found under ‘Edit Store’ -> ‘Products’.

Once these changes are in place, click through the tabs and subsections, You might find features that you didn’t even know you had!

Domain & Email: On the Move

On July 31st 2008, you’ll be able to more easily access your domain and email settings, as they’re moving over to under the ‘Edit Site’ tab.

Since your email addresses and domain name are tied together, we’ve combined the two features and streamlined the setup – so adding that professional edge to your site is that much easier.

The New ‘Manage Users’ Feature

On Wednesday, June 25, we’ll be launching a new feature for managing multiple users.

With this tool, you’ll be able to give other account holders Administrator access to your website. They’ll be able to edit and manage your site, but they won’t be able to see your billing information or manage your site users.

When ‘Add Administrator’ is clicked, you have the option to create a new account OR attach your site to an existing account.

For example, if your designer, Joe, already has an account, you can attach your site to his account. If you want Jane, your content writer, to edit your site, but she’s never used the website builder, you can create an account for her.

Both users will receive an email notifying them of their Administrator access to your site and both will see your site listed in the Site List on their myHome page. Your site will be marked with a special ‘A’ status icon.

You’ll be able to access this tool by clicking ‘Manage Users’ under the ‘myHome’ tab.

NOTE: Make sure that the person responsible for your website subscription payment is set as the site owner and ONLY give Administrator access to people that you trust to edit and manage your site.
